Built for Western Cape conditions
Kenny Cape West is based in Montague Gardens, Cape Town, and works across the province where temperature control matters every day. We service aircon units, cold rooms and related equipment for retail, agricultural and commercial sites in Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Malmesbury and Vredenburg, with call-outs reaching the wider Western Cape when needed.
Our work is shaped by what local customers deal with: load-shedding that affects start-up and shutdown routines, coastal humidity that works on coils and electrics, dusty farm environments, and the pressure of keeping stock at the right temperature through long hot spells. We do not treat every site the same. A small shop, a packing store and a farm cold room all need different attention, and we plan accordingly.
Founded in 2011, the business was built on steady service rather than quick talk. The aim is simple: arrive ready, diagnose properly and fix the issue in a way that holds up after we leave. That means practical advice, honest reporting and work that matches the site’s actual needs.
How our team works on site
Our team brings different experience to the same job, which helps when a fault is not obvious. Morne Jacobus van Wyk leads the business and handles the bigger picture on planning, service standards and customer relationships. Anele Mbeki manages refrigeration fault finding and repairs, while Lutho Ndlovu focuses on cold room work and temperature stability. Ruan Smit handles aircon installation, Charlene Adams keeps contracts and scheduling in order, and Bianca Petersen supports clients with updates and follow-through.
When we take on a call-out, we look at the whole system, not only the symptom. A warm cold room may be caused by poor airflow, a blocked drain, dirty coils or a control issue, so we check the full picture before jumping to a part replacement. That saves time and usually saves money too.
We also know that many businesses cannot afford long interruptions. For that reason we keep communication clear, note what was found and explain what should be done now and what can wait. If a repair needs parts or if a temporary fix is the safest step, we say so plainly.
- Fault finding done with the site conditions in mind
- Practical repair advice, not guesswork
- Clear feedback for managers, owners and site staff
- Respect for stock, schedules and working hours
Service plans that suit real operating hours
A lot of refrigeration trouble starts long before a system stops completely. Filters clog, drains block, coils load up with dust and salt air, and small leaks slowly reduce performance. Our Planned Maintenance service is designed to catch these issues early, before they turn into spoilage, complaints or emergency costs. We build maintenance around the site, the equipment and the season, rather than forcing every client into the same routine.
For shops, this often means checking temperatures, cleaning coils, clearing drain lines and testing start-up performance before busy trading periods. For farms and storage sites, it can include closer attention to product temperature, compressor behaviour and shutdown preservation when equipment is not in daily use. We also assist with seasonal start-up before hot weather and shutdown preservation when systems need to sit idle for a period.
Maintenance contracts help business owners keep control of costs and reduce surprises. They also create a record of what has been checked and when, which is useful when a site manager changes or a municipal inspection asks for proof of routine care.
- Planned Maintenance for regular servicing
- Seasonal Start-Up before summer pressure
- Shutdown Preservation for idle equipment
- Temperature Logging where records are needed
Cold rooms, aircon and the work in between
Cold rooms need more than a quick look and aircon needs more than a gas top-up. We work on both because the same business often depends on them together. A bakery, butchery, bottle store, farm packhouse or shop may need one team that understands the link between comfort cooling and product storage. That is where our cold-room servicing and aircon servicing come in.
Cold-room work can include leak detection, temperature logging, coil cleaning, drain clearing and checking door seals, fans and controls. For aircon systems we handle servicing, cleaning and fault finding to improve airflow and reduce unnecessary strain. In coastal areas and in dusty locations, regular cleaning makes a real difference to performance and energy use. If a unit is cycling badly, freezing up or struggling in peak heat, we work through the cause and not just the outcome.
We also know how important the small details are. A drain that is partly blocked can cause water damage. A dirty coil can put extra load on the system. A poor service note can leave a site unsure of what happens next. So we keep our work tidy, and we try to leave the site in better order than we found it.
What we stand for
Our values are practical ones. We believe in arriving when we said we would, treating stock and equipment carefully, and giving clients information they can use. There is no benefit in covering up a problem or dressing it up with unnecessary work. People call us because they want their refrigeration and aircon sorted properly, and that means dealing with the fault in front of us.
We also value long-term relationships. Many of our clients need regular support through different seasons, from summer pressure to winter downtime, so reliability matters. When a client knows who is coming, what was done last time and what still needs attention, the whole process runs smoother. That is why our contracts and support process are kept straightforward.
On every site we aim for the same standard: careful diagnosis, tidy workmanship, clear communication and a fix that suits the equipment and the budget. Not every job is simple, but every job should be handled properly.
- Honest feedback on what is needed
- Tidy work and respect for occupied sites
- Follow-through on calls, quotes and service notes
- Support that fits the realities of Western Cape trading
Working with shops, farms and growing businesses
We support businesses that depend on temperature control to keep stock saleable and customers happy. That includes shops in city areas, distribution points, farm operations, storage spaces and mixed-use sites where refrigeration and aircon must both perform. Because we work across Cape Town, the Winelands and the West Coast, we understand the different demands of each area, from salt air near the coast to heavy summer use inland.
Our office and field process is set up to keep things moving. Charlene Adams coordinates contracts and service dates, Bianca Petersen helps with client updates and call-out support, and the technicians focus on site work without making the client chase for progress. If something is urgent, it is handled as an urgent matter. If it is routine maintenance, it is scheduled to suit the business as far as possible.
If you need a local refrigeration and aircon team that works with practical timelines and clear reporting, Kenny Cape West is ready to help. We are here for the regular jobs, the awkward faults and the times when a room or cold store cannot be allowed to drift out of spec.
